CDL is migrating all of the "themed collections" from the old Calisphere site and reinventing them as "exhibitions" on the new one. Exhibitions will be for a broad audience on a variety of topics and eras. Content contributors will be welcome to collaborate with us to create new exhibitions using these templates. We welcome recommendations on features and functionality.

Please feel free to check out these designs and leave feedback in the comments! Please contact sherri.berger@ucop.edu with any questions.

Exhibition

This is the landing page for a single exhibition in the Calisphere interface. For comparison, here is the current "themed collection topic" for the same content in the old Calisphere interface: http://www.calisphere.universityofcalifornia.edu/california-cultures/california-rock-art

Remember that most desktop users will have a wide screen, so only the top quarter or third of the page will be visible until they scroll down.

Item in the Exhibition

Here's what would happen if you clicked on the first item in the exhibition above.

Remember that most desktop users will have a wide screen, so this lightbox overlay will effectively fill the screen.

Those two paragraphs of extra info could be supplied by the exhibition curator to add more context beyond the metadata.

A Group of Exhibitions

Exhibitions can be grouped, allowing users to explore exhibitions and related materials on a given topic. There's space for a little editorial information here as well.

For comparison, this design is a reinvention of the following page on the old Calisphere: http://www.calisphere.universityofcalifornia.edu/calcultures/ethnic_groups/ethnic4.html.

Exhibitions Directory

This is how users will navigate to exhibitions of interest. Note the "Exhibitions" item in the teal navigation bar at the top of the site. This is what you'd see if you clicked on that.
