Charge:

Phase 1: CJK Journals

  1. The EAS-CKG seeks to develop a Shared Print proposal for CJK journals in coordination with the UC Libraries Shared Print Program. The working group will establish
    1. scope and priorities for shared print holdings,
    2. procedures for a coordinated approach to selecting, depositing, consolidating and preserving print CJK journal backfiles in the RLFs, and,
    3. procedures for sharing information of preserved print CJK journal backfiles in the RLFs with EAALC libraries
  2. The EAS-CKG seeks to review and coordinate CJK current journal subscriptions systemwide and/or among EAALC libraries. The working group will establish
    1. a master list of CJK current journal subscriptions systemwide, with last campus commitment notation,
    2. procedures for notifying new subscriptions and cancellations at each campus to the EAS-CKG as well as for maintaining the master list of CJK current journal subscriptions systemwide, and,
    3. procedures for sharing updates on UC’s current journal subscriptions with EAALC libraries

Phase 2: Monographs and Coordination Beyond UC

  1. The working group will establish procedures for a coordinated approach to selecting, depositing, consolidating and preserving shared print monographs holdings among UC libraries and the RLFs. These include:
    1. Large monographic sets within UC and/or with other EAALC libraries
    2. Other CJK monographs.
  2. The working group will explore the issue of UCB using NRLF and UCLA using SRLF as local annexes. Can this approach continue and remain separate from the UC shared print effort? If not, what strategies we should develop among UC EAS-CKG members?
  3. The working group will explore and establish coordination with non-UC EAALC members on shared print, including:
    1. WEST Project
    2. Other EA resources, especially large sets

The Working Group will consult with UC Shared Print Manager (Alison Wohlers, alison.wohlers@ucop.edu) and campuses on timeline and/or to inform their approach.
