Campus Updates


  • UCB: Working with various collections, including mid-century campus photographer;
  • UCD collections updates/digitization: CLIR grant for Native American Studies AV, student newspaper digitization;
  • UCLA: exhibit updates, including centennial for 2020. Received Challenge Grant for this effort (UA is a small part of the effort); 70th anniversary of East Asian Library; digitizing UA films, following preservation survey (purchased machine for the process);
  • UC Merced: systemwide project on Extension records continues; NHPRC three-year grant received to digitize the Extension materials;
  • UC Riverside is between archivists;
  • UCSD: Prof. Markowitz received Pulitizer Prize;
  • UCSF: working with records managers; working on storage space issues;
  • UCSB: filling staff positions, digitization lab is understaffed; bringing in a lot of faculty papers
  • UCSC: Chancellor is retiring, which will create an influx
 UCAC Policy Revisions

Reviewed section by section; the definition of "student record" was discussed (in the context of what we do not collect)

 Document Management Systems

How are we dealing with transfers from document management system (managed by a large, admin office, such as the Chancellor)? UCSD: have been talking to admin about transferring to an archived location for processing and access. System moving to OnBase. Still working on this. Goal is to host a public facing version of the office's records. Use of Perceptive? Moving to OnBase at UC Merced.


Retention of user records in Archives--policy?Marlayna ChristensenHas two responses via email; others? Matt: Aeon can retain permanently; Kathie: needs to check in about what they've done historically, now using Aeon. Marlayna: pushing for ten years, but may try for permanent retention.
