What is REDCap?
Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) was originally developed at Vanderbilt University and is now maintained by the REDCap Consortium which is composed of 1,609 active institutional partners in 92 countries who utilize and support REDCap in various ways.
REDCap at UCSF is a secure, HIPAA-compliant, web-based system for building and managing web-based research data collection projects consisting of surveys and databases. REDCap's ease of use and comprehensive functionality promotes collaboration among all of a projects researchers, worldwide.
Whether your project is collecting data via surveys or aggregating and importing existing data into a database, REDCap's sophisticated, intuitive and easy to use tools enable rapid forms based survey and database development. REDCap also has a large suite of form templates that are easily modified to meet the unique needs of your project. Advanced features of the system include branching logic for dynamic data entry form generation, file uploading, data importing, and embedded calculated database fields. In addition REDCap includes a Data Export Utility enabling export of research data in an automated manner into formats that are compatible with commonly used statistical analysis packages such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, and R.
UCSF Pricing and Data Use Policy
REDCap is available for research purposes only and is offered without charge to the UCSF Research Community and its collaborators. Currently UCSF has over 2,800 active projects and over 5,250 research collaborators.
Academic Research Systems team Researchers may retain the services of members of the Academic Research Systems team as a development consultancy to design REDCap databases, data entry forms, or surveys, These consulting services are available on a recharge basis. Please contact the ARS team at its-arssupport@ucsf.edu for additional information and availability.
UCSF requires REDCap and MyResearch Attestation Forms be signed by every new REDCap user to denote their understanding of both institutional and legally mandated data use and security policies that must be adhered to while using UCSF REDCap and REDCap Surveys.
