The following site contains general information on the RAE service, how to get support and the applications published within the platform https://it.ucsf.edu/service/rae

Does RAE support copy and paste?

Yes. On Windows machines you can copy and paste as you would with any other applications (ctrl +c, ctrl +v). On a Mac you copy with command + c and paste in the Windows MyResearch application with ctrl + v.

Does RAE support printing.

Yes. When you print from your MyResearch applications it will list the printers your computer has access too. Note: If you are printing sensitive data this is up to you to secure as per the data use agreement.

How do I find applications I minimized on a Mac?

It's not in the most obvious place, but in the top right next to the clock are two little arrows. Click on that and a list of applications you have open is displayed.

Windows 10 users: Application refresh

This can happen when the MyResearch administrators update the application on the back end servers. Generally Windows updates the applications on you machine every day, but you can force this to happen sooner. To fix this perform the following actions.

Launch "RemoteApp and Desktop Connections" in the Control Panel

Select "View Details"

Select "Update Now"

Your can now use your applications as per normal.

Mac users - Application refresh

To refresh the applications displayed in the portal, hover over the "RAE" text in the top left corner of the Remote Desktop Client and click the circular arrows.

Refresh every few weeks to make sure you get new applications published by the RAE Engineering team

Windows 10 Connection issues

On occasion the odd Windows 10 machine will refuse to connect. To get this to work we need to change the registry

Add a registry entry under

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client

as a DWORD(32bit) called RDGClientTransport with a value of 1
